Lipa City, Oct. 4 – Two clubs make their debut in Round 2 of Season 2 of the Lipa Football League on Sunday, 28 October 2018, at the Aboitiz Pitch of The Outlets at Lipa. Legends FC, made up mostly of players of last season’s UB-Lipa’s Brahman FC, which opted not to participate this season, is up against in-form La Salle FC, made up of De la Salle Lipa’s high school varsity players.

La Salle FC sit atop Group A after a comprehensive 5-1 demolition of last season’s defending champions, the FC Reigning Kickers, in one of two opening games played on 30 September at the same venue. The clash between the two newcomers is scheduled at 1:45 in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Green Stallions FC, the college varsity team of De la Salle Lipa, makes its bow against the Stonyhurst International School-Lipa Campus’ Kings FC in the 12:45 p.m. encounter. The latter suffered a heartbreaking 3-4 loss to last year’s runners-up Lipa Emmanuel FC (formerly BCAS FC) despite Omar Mazloum’s hattrick, the only one of the first round of matches.

The other 12:45 clash sees Mentors FC of Basilio Fernando Air Base – 4-2 opening day winners over the Coffee Millers FC – up against FC Reigning Kickers. Both teams played against each other in last June’s Live All Out Football Festival with the Air Force team narrowly defeating the reigning LFL champions.

In the day’s last match scheduled at 1:45, ACF Real Molinillo de Lipa, who figured in a hard-fought draw against the league’s guest team Real Barako FC of Batangas City on opening day, try to notch its first win of the season against the youngsters of Lipa Emmanuel FC.

Real Molinillo started Season 1 in style last year with a 10-4 romp over Kings FC on opening day, but by and large failed to realize its potential. The club eventually finished 2nd runners-up. This time, Real Molinillo has started in more modest fashion but hunts for three points against the rebuilding Lipa Emmanuel, the early leaders of Group B.

The latter played inspired football in the league’s opening season, but had lost more than half of last season’s squad due to graduation. Among the players Lipa Emmanuel lost was Mark Roy Gulang, one of its key players last year, who ironically will be suiting up for the opposing club Real Molinillo.
