Inaugural Lipa Football League Season Gets Underway
Dubbed as the “first club football league in Batangas,” the fledgling Lipa Football League kicked off this afternoon at the University of Batangas-Lipa City Campus football field with a double header.
The league is a project of the Lipa-based football club Asociación Club de Fútbol Real Molinillo de Café, originally made up of De la Salle Lipa alumni but now with a more diversion membership. The league is co-presented by UB-Lipa and sponsored by Erwin Sibayan’ The Fairway Clubhouse.
In its inaugural season, the Lipa Football League includes five football clubs all based in Lipa. Aside from ACF Real Molinillo, participating in the league are BCAS FC, Brahman FC, FC Reigning Kickers and Kings FC.
The initial tournament has a single round robin group phase with matches played at the end of each month. The elimination round concludes in December 2017, with the top four team advancing to the knockout semi-finals stage.
The finals are scheduled to be played on 25 March. All matches are scheduled at the UB-Lipa football field.
In the opening round of matches today, ACF Real Molinillo defeated Kings FC 10-4, while BCAS FC and FC reigning kickers fought to a thrilling 5-all stalemate.
