Inaugural Lipa Football League Concludes with Final this Sunday

The trophies and medals are ready for the finals of the Lipa Football League's inaugural season.
The inaugural season of the Lipa Football League (LFL), a developmental project of Lipa-based club Asociación Club de Fútbol Real Molinillo de Café and co-presented by the University of Batangas-Lipa City Campus, concludes this Sunday, the 25th of February, with the final to be contested by BCAS FC and FC Reigning Kickers at the UB-Lipa Football Field.

Dubbed the “first club football league in Batangas,” the LFL kicked off in August of 2017 with five clubs participating. Apart from the clubs already mentioned, also in the league’s historic first season were Brahman FC and Kings FC.

A single-round robin competition was played from August to December, with matches held on the last Sunday of each month. In January’s semi-finals, BCAS FC and FC Reigning Kickers both won to book their seats in the final.

In the first match this Sunday, ACF Real Molinillo and Brahman FC clash at 1:30 in the afternoon in the match for third place. The championship match between the league’s top two teams follows immediately after.

Trophies will be awarded to the champion team as well as the first and second runners-up. There will also be medals for the league’s leading scorer as well as its Most Valuable Player.

Plans are already afoot for the second staging of the LFL, the inaugural season of which was sponsored by The Fairway Clubhouse at MP Casanova Street Barangay Tambo, Lipa City.
