La Salle Clubs Take Top Group Spots after LFL Round 3

Lipa City, 25 November – De la Salle Lipa’s two clubs in the second season of the Lipa Football League grabbed the lead in their respective groups after contrasting victories in the third round of matches played on 25 November 2018 at the Aboitiz Pitch of The Outlets of Lipa.

Green Stallions FC, DLSL’s college team, continued to blitz the league with scorching football to score its second double figure victory in as many matches. After putting Kings FC to the sword, 11-2, in their league debut in October, the Green Stallions slammed ten goals without reply past the youngsters of Lipa Emmanuel FC.

Neil Paul Bernardo hit hattrick form to lead the Green Stallions with three goals, while Juan Miguel Silva and Francis Cosio contributed with a brace each. Jake Martinez, Briggs Alberto and an unfortunate own goal by Kyle Vida Tiopo completed the Green Stallions’ scoring. Lipa Emmanuel, runners-up in the inaugural season as BCAS FC, was just too inexperienced to cope with their opponents’ rapier like attack.

Meanwhile, La Salle FC, DLSL’s high school team, kept pace with their older counterparts by defeating an undermanned FC Coffee Millers. The score was 5-2, with goals coming from Lorenz Miguel Berana, Michael Jordson Reyes, Richard Singson and Samuel Panghulan.

FC Coffee Millers defender Julius Benedict Agno, in attempting a goal-line clearance, instead sliced the ball into his own goal to add to La Salle FC’s tally. For the Coffee Millers, Jan Chrisandre Palad and Joseph Melo scored to add some respectability to the scoreline.

In the other matches, defending champions FC Reigning Kickers’ miserable form continued after a 3-5 reverse against season 2 debutant club Legends FC. It was the Reigning Kickers’ third loss in as many matches, consigning them firmly to the bottom of Group A.

Raymond de la Rosa led Legends FC with a brace, with further goals scored by Winzle Mariano, Allen Joven and Edcele Mendoza. Michael Angelo Hernandez, the inaugural season’s top marksman, scored his first goal in season 2 for the Reigning Kickers, for whom Keith Velasco and Jhon Lester Torres also contributed a goal each.

In the final match of the round, LFL guest club Real Baraco FC of Batangas City, who had a bye in the second round of play, sent Kings FC crashing to their third straight loss and straight to the bottom of Group B. Daniel Aungon and Nico Maguddayao led Real Baraco with a brace each, with Jerome Villanueva, Japeth de Ocampo, Juan Miguel Vergara, Piolo Alcantara and Chris Aylward scoring a goal each to complete a 9-2 victory.

Shawn Torres and Omar Mazloum scored a goal each for the Kings to prevent a shutout. Despite the loss, Mazloum’s goal was enough to keep him top of the goalscoring chart with 5 goals in three matches.

Lipa Emmanuel FC's goal was kept busy in a 0-10 loss to Real Baraco FC.
