Mentors FC, Real Molinillo Go Top after Round 2 of LFL Matches

Lipa City, 29 October – Mentors FC of Basilio Fernando Air Base and ACF Real Molinillo de Lipa bolted to the top of their respective groups after the second of matches of Season 2 of the Lipa Football League played yesterday at the Aboitiz Pitch of The Outlets of Lipa. The league is co-presented by ACF Real Molinillo de Lipa and The Outlets of Lipa and will conclude on the last Sunday of March 2019.

Mentors FC wrested the lead in Group A from La Salle FC by handing defending champions FC Reigning Kickers their second straight loss. Mark Anthony Mendome scored a brace to lead his team to a 6-1 victory over the Reigning Kickers, with further goals from Kenneth Aquino, Richard Brillantes, Rex Justado and Erwin Sibayan. Jhon Lester Torres scored the defending champions’ consolation goal.

First Round Group A leaders La Salle FC kept in pace with the Mentors but surrendered the lead on goal difference after a scintillating 4-3 win over debuting Legends FC. The Legends actually opened the scoring but the younger and fitter Lasallians eventually edged the contest.

Ronnie Singson scored a brace to lead La Salle, with a goal each added by Gian Adame and Miguel Berana. Krysler Opeña also scored a brace for the losing team with a third added by Edcele Malabanan.

Meanwhile, in Group B, ACF Real Molinillo de Lipa took over the top of the table from their opponents Lipa Emmanual FC with three players scoring a brace each to win 7-1. Kevin Macasaet, Mark Roy Gulang and Renz Dimaano all scored twice for Real Molinillo with Tyron Regalado also scoring from the penalty spot.

Lipa Emmanual avoided a shutout when Gerard Gutierrez pounced on a defensive error by Kim Magpantay to slot the ball past Molinillo goalkeeper Kenneth Paul Patajo for his side’s consolation goal.

In the other Group B match, debuting Green Stallions FC went into goalscoring mode, handing undermanned Kings FC their second straight loss. Gerard Pena led the Stallions with four, the league’s second hattrick; with Briggs Alberto also contributing a brace.

Francis Cosio, John Lloyd Guevarra, Vince Martinez and Neil Paul Bernardo all scored a goal each which, along with an own goal scored by Kings FC, brought the final score to a whopping 11-2. Despite the loss, Kings FC’s Omar Mazloum, who arrived late because of another playing engagement, managed to score a brace to continue to lead the goalscoring charts with 5 goals after two rounds.

The Green Stallions went straight to second in the Group B table with three points, just a point behind leaders ACF Real Molinillo.
